Ghana's rising road fatalities have sparked renewed calls for urgent action, with stakeholders debating the key factors contributing to road crashes and possible solutions.
NPP Communications Team Member, Eric Twum, says road crashes are not caused by poor road conditions alone, arguing that stricter enforcement against unroadworthy vehicles, overloading and improper vehicle modifications is critical to reducing fatalities.
He described road carnage as a growing national crisis that requires stronger interventions.
Meanwhile, NDC Communications Team Member, Julius Kwame Anthony, says reducing road deaths requires a collective effort involving government, road users and relevant institutions.
He highlighted the need for improved road infrastructure, stronger enforcement of safety regulations, better driver behaviour and government initiatives, including the expansion of the Accra-Kumasi corridor and the introduction of automated speed monitoring systems.
The discussion examines Ghana's road safety challenges and the need to move beyond political debates to find lasting solutions.
