NPP Questions Funding for Government’s GH¢2 Diesel Price Relief

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is demanding clarity from the government on how it intends to finance the proposed GH¢2-per-litre diesel price relief.

The party's Policy Committee Co-chair, George Kwame Aboagye, says the intervention could worsen Ghana's fiscal challenges if implemented without a clear and sustainable financing plan.

He questioned the source of funding for the policy and urged the government to provide details on how the relief measure will be maintained without putting additional pressure on public finances.

The debate comes as government moves to provide support for diesel consumers amid concerns over fuel prices and the cost of living.
