Bank of Ghana Governor Warns Against Rescuing Unviable Distressed Companies

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama, is calling for stronger safeguards in the restructuring of distressed companies.
Dr. Asiama stressed that financially troubled companies should not automatically qualify for rescue, arguing that access to new funding alone does not prove that a business has the capacity to survive in the long term.
He said restructuring decisions must be guided by proper assessments of a company's viability to ensure that resources are committed to businesses with realistic prospects of recovery.
