Passengers Reject Proposed Transport Fare Increase Amid GPRTU Push

Passengers have rejected calls for a possible increase in transport fares proposed by the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), arguing that any upward adjustment will worsen financial pressures on commuters.
The GPRTU is pushing for a review of fares despite government's GH¢2-per-litre diesel intervention, insisting that the measure provides only limited relief for transport operators.
Speaking to Channel One News at some bus terminals, commuters said transport fares are already high and should remain unchanged, especially considering the poor condition of many roads across the country.
Some passengers also raised concerns that some drivers have already increased fares despite no official announcement of a new transport fare structure.
