Inusah Fuseini Rejects Proposal to Extend Presidential Term to Five Years

Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has kicked against the proposal to extend the tenure of the President and Members of Parliament from four years to five years.
The proposal, which forms part of recommendations from the Constitutional Review process, is intended to give governments more time to implement and assess policies before seeking a fresh mandate from voters.
Speaking to Channel One News, Mr Fuseini argued that political parties seeking to govern should be sufficiently prepared before assuming office, rather than relying on an extended term to execute their programmes.
The former legislator also expressed concerns about the financial implications of increasing the number of parliamentary seats to 300, questioning the additional cost to the state.
