New Stalls Emerge at Baba Yara Stadium After KMA Demolition Exercise

New stalls have started emerging around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, just four days after the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) cleared makeshift structures and containers in the area.
The Assembly carried out the demolition exercise as part of efforts to sanitise and reorganise the surroundings, citing concerns over public safety, disorder and encroachment on public spaces.
Speaking to Channel One News, the Public Relations Officer of the KMA, Henrietta Afia Aboagye, explained that the re-emergence of the structures, estimated at a cost of GH¢60,000, forms part of a planned redevelopment initiative.
She said the project is aimed at creating a more organised and orderly trading environment around the stadium while improving the use of the space.
