Prez Mahama says expanding the AfCFTA to include Caribbean nations will be one of his key priorities
President John Mahama says expanding the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to include Caribbean nations will be one of his key priorities when Ghana assumes the chairmanship of the African Union next year.
Speaking during bilateral talks with Jamaica's Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen, at King's House in Kingston, President Mahama said broadening the scope of AfCFTA would create a framework for Africa and the Caribbean to trade goods on a duty-free and tariff-free basis, strengthen economic ties between Africa and the region, and unlock new opportunities for trade and investment.
