Ibrahim Adjei Opposes Proposal to Extend Ghana’s Presidential Term to Five Years

The Resident Country Director of International Investments LLC, Ibrahim Adjei, has expressed opposition to the proposal to extend Ghana's presidential term from four to five years.
The proposal is among the recommendations of the Constitutional Review Committee, which has been accepted by government as part of efforts to reform aspects of Ghana's governance framework.
Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV, Mr Adjei argued that the effectiveness of a president should be measured by competence, leadership and the ability to deliver results, rather than the length of time spent in office.
He questioned whether extending the presidential tenure would necessarily improve governance outcomes and stressed the importance of effective leadership.
