Kaneshie Market Footbridges Remain Closed Months After Repairs Promise

Pedestrians using the Kaneshie Market area are calling on authorities to urgently begin rehabilitation works on two closed footbridges, warning that the delay is putting lives at risk.
The footbridges were shut on April 2 after years of structural deterioration, with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) announcing plans to commence repairs within one to two months.
However, a visit by Citi News indicates that rehabilitation works are yet to begin, leaving commuters to navigate the area under difficult and potentially dangerous conditions.
Frustrated pedestrians say the prolonged closure has increased the risk of road accidents and pedestrian knockdowns, as they appeal to authorities to expedite the rehabilitation process.
