Minority Accuses Government of Targeting Opposition Members Over Dissent

The Minority in Parliament has described as dangerous what it says is the government's continued harassment of members of the opposition.
According to the caucus, some NPP MPs and party members have been deliberately targeted and subjected to harassment for expressing dissenting views, with the state allegedly using its investigative and prosecutorial powers against them.
Speaking in his closing remarks at the end of the second meeting of the second session of the Ninth Parliament, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin expressed concern over what he described as a growing trend that could affect Ghana's democratic environment.
The Minority is calling for respect for democratic principles, freedom of expression and the protection of political dissent.
