Inside the Army’s push to revamp dining halls and fuel soldiers

Known for mystery meat and powdered potatoes, a new initiative is replacing ultra-processed foods at military mess halls with fresher, locally sourced ingredients. The Army is launching the third pilot of a nutrition-focused dining program that leaders say is designed to improve service member health and readiness.
