An alleged assault on an official of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has resulted in the arrest of a suspect during enforcement of the National Sanitation Day exercise.
The operation, led by the Mayor of Accra, also saw traders operating within the Central Business District fined on the spot for failing to comply with directives to suspend trading activities and participate in the clean-up exercise.
Some traders were fined GH¢450 and GH¢1,000 for violating the sanitation directives as authorities intensified efforts to ensure compliance.
