The Court of Appeal's decision to acquit and discharge former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu continues to generate debate over law, politics and Ghana's justice system.
Private legal practitioner Justice Abdulai said his initial reaction to the judgment was shaped by public perceptions surrounding the case, but after reading the full ruling, his opinion changed.
Former NPP MP for Gomoa West Alexander Abban disagreed with the planned NPP demonstration over the acquittal, arguing that the matter should be addressed through legal channels rather than political action.
Political analyst Dr Jonathan Asante-Otchere questioned the handling of the prosecution, asking whether the outcome reflected challenges in the legal approach taken by the previous Attorney General.
Meanwhile, NDC MP for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, defended the Court of Appeal's decision, arguing that Sedina Tamakloe's absence during trial affected her ability to properly defend herself. He also said the Attorney General's decision to appeal the ruling demonstrates respect for the legal process.
