A jury found two police officers covered up a murder. Trump PARDONED them | JUSTICE INTERRUPTED

MS NOW's latest installment in “Justice Interrupted” — a series examining Trump's puzzling clemency decisions, which experts say amount to the most random and reckless use of that awesome presidential power in American history — looks at the pardons given to the nearly 1,600 January 6th defendants, especially ones who were convicted of assaulting police officers who responded that day. We look at the case of police officer Michael Fanone, who was tased and badly beaten by the crowd he had been dragged into. Five people were convicted in that assault but after Trump signed a sweeping pardon after he took office last year, their convictions were wiped away. Four of the attackers were released from custody and a fifth never even had to report to prison.

“You have individuals who were inspired by Donald Trump's lies to storm and assault the Capitol and try to prevent the certification of a free and fair election. Donald Trump then absolved them of all of their criminal culpability,” Fanone told Ken Dilanian.
