Ashanti Herbal Clinics Closed as Council Cracks Down on Illegal Practitioners

The Traditional Medicine Practice Council has shut down 30 facilities in the Ashanti Region following an enforcement exercise that uncovered multiple regulatory breaches.

The violations included operating without valid licences and engaging unqualified health practitioners.

The 10-working-day inspection targeted 55 traditional medicine facilities across the region as part of efforts to ensure compliance with Ghana's laws governing traditional and alternative healthcare practice.

Speaking to the media, Head of Compliance, Enforcement and Inspection at the Council, Michael Lawson, said the affected facilities will face sanctions beyond the closures, regardless of any appeals they may file.
