HR Experts Push for Maternity & Paternity Leave for Adoptive, Surrogate Parents

HR professionals are calling for Ghana's next Labour Act to grant maternity and paternity leave to adoptive and surrogate parents.

Speaking to Channel One News on the sidelines of the 2026 HR Connect Conference in Accra, Group Head of HR and Administration at Bank of Africa, Eric Kojo Van-Ess Kuranchie, said the HR community submitted the proposal during consultations on the new Labour Bill.

He argued that adoptive and surrogate parents should also be given time to bond with their children as part of a more inclusive workplace policy.
