Ing. Joshua Mortoti Pushes 30% Ghanaian Participation in Mining Projects

Mechanical and Mining Engineer Ing. Joshua Mortoti is calling for increased Ghanaian participation in major mining projects to ensure more benefits from the country's mineral resources remain within the economy.
Ing. Mortoti is proposing a minimum 30% Ghanaian participation in all major mining projects, arguing that stronger local involvement will enhance value creation, skills development and economic benefits from the mining sector.
He also called for a review of mining royalty rates, including a proposed 3% royalty for small-scale miners, as part of efforts to increase government revenue and improve regulation within the sector.
The recommendations form part of ongoing discussions on how Ghana can maximise returns from its natural resources while promoting sustainable mining practices.
