Human Rights Advocate Rev. Hornam Adzraku-Kevi says education remains a critical protective tool for girls, helping to prevent teenage pregnancy and child marriage.

She stressed the importance of keeping girls in school while calling for stronger interventions that involve boys, men, families and communities in addressing harmful practices.

Rev. Adzraku-Kevi also highlighted the impact of safe spaces and shelters in providing vulnerable girls with counselling, mentorship and support, enabling some to become peer educators in their communities.

Meanwhile, Berlinda Mills, Programmes Officer at the Child Marriage Unit of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), said Ghana has recorded progress through awareness campaigns, engagement with traditional leaders and adolescent empowerment programmes, but challenges including poverty, low reporting and community cover-ups remain.
