Russian-British painter Wendy Williams first experienced China's rich cultural heritage during a visit in 1997. A second trip to Beijing in 2008 sparked her fascination with classical Chinese paintings when she saw the iconic Along the River During the Qingming Festival.

Inspired by the intricate details of landscapes from the Song Dynasty (960-1279), Williams later traveled to Zhangjiajie and found that the breathtaking scenery she had admired in ancient paintings truly existed. From Suzhou's classical gardens to Hunan's Tongguan Kiln and Fenghuang Ancient Town, each journey has deepened her appreciation of Chinese art, history and craftsmanship.

The passion even led her to study the Chinese mandarin so she could understand the poems and inscriptions written on traditional paintings. She believes cultural exchange begins with curiosity, and people from different backgrounds can learn from one another to build a better world.
