Gold statues unveiled outside of Lincoln Memorial in D.C.

Gilded statues near the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., are now sporting a new gold look as part of U.S. President Donald Trump's broader renovation project in the nation's capital.

In 1929, two sculptors, Leo Friedlander and James Earle, were commissioned to sculpt the original bronze statues.

The Art Deco-class “The Arts of War” statues and the Neoclassical-class “The Arts of Peace” statues were officially erected in 1951 and now adorn the entrances to the Arlington Memorial Bridge and the Rock and Potomac Creek Parkway.
