NPP’s Evans Nimako: Government Must Fund Expanded Party Elections

The New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Director of Elections, Evans Nimako, says the state should provide financial support to political parties if they are required to expand their internal electoral systems.
Speaking during discussions on the implications of the Supreme Court's ruling on the political parties' delegate system, Mr. Nimako argued that broadening participation in internal party elections would significantly increase the cost of organising primaries.
He maintained that if political parties are expected to implement wider voting systems, government support should be considered to ensure the process is fair, transparent and sustainable.
