The government has accepted a recommendation by the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) to allow Ghanaians with dual citizenship to hold public office, while maintaining restrictions on the offices of President and Vice President.
Announced in the government's White Paper and presented by Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine, the decision means Ghanaian citizens by birth will no longer be required to renounce their foreign citizenship before contesting parliamentary elections.
