As Ghana marks 20 years of the Human Trafficking Act, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has revealed that its Anti-Human Trafficking Unit handled 137 cases in 2025, rescued more than 1,200 victims, and secured eight convictions.
Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, warned that traffickers are increasingly exploiting social media platforms and fake job opportunities to target vulnerable individuals and called for stronger collaboration to combat the growing threat.
