The Supreme Court of Ghana has delivered a landmark ruling on the delegate system used by political parties to select presidential and parliamentary candidates, declaring the delegate-based electoral college system unconstitutional.

In a 5–2 majority decision, the court ruled that political parties must move towards a broader participation model where all registered party members can take part in choosing candidates, popularly described as a “one member, one vote” system.
