Nurses, Midwives Urged to Improve Patient Care Through Emotional Intelligence

The Nursing and Midwifery Council is urging nurses and midwives to demonstrate emotional intelligence in their interactions with patients, colleagues and the public to improve healthcare delivery.

According to the Council, strengthening communication, empathy and professionalism will help reduce workplace conflicts and enhance patient care.

The Council also announced that reforms to the nursing and midwifery curriculum will address concerns about professional conduct, ethics and interpersonal relationships within healthcare settings.
