FIFA Plans $20 Billion Commercial Subsidiary to Transform World Cup Business

FIFA has announced plans to establish a new $20 billion commercial subsidiary to manage the business operations of the World Cup and other major tournaments.
The proposed entity, FIFA Forward Enterprise, will allow FIFA to retain majority control while selling minority shares to private investors in a move expected to raise up to $4.2 billion.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino says the initiative will create new revenue streams to support football development around the world.
However, UEFA has criticised the proposal, warning that the move could increase the commercialisation of football and affect the traditional structure of the sport.
The plan will require approval from FIFA's 211 member associations, with the football governing body insisting that sporting decisions and regulations will remain under its control.
