Parliament Passes Excise Bill 2026, Scraps Excise Tax on Local Fruit Juices

Parliament has passed the Excise Bill 2026, introducing changes to Ghana's excise tax regime, including the abolition of excise taxes on locally manufactured fruit juices.
The legislation establishes a framework for the imposition and collection of excise duty on selected imported and locally manufactured excisable goods. It also provides for the use of Excise Tax Stamps and requires such stamps to be affixed to excisable products.
Presenting the bill on the floor of Parliament, Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem outlined the objectives of the legislation and its expected impact on industry, tax administration and government revenue.
