Minority to File RTI Requests Over Parliament’s Approval of Three Tax Agreements

The Ranking Member on Parliament's Economy and Development Committee, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says the Minority will file Right to Information (RTI) requests to obtain details of three agreements approved by Parliament to strengthen tax administration in Ghana.
The agreements relate to the implementation of a Fiscal Electronic Device policy, the Ghana Domestic Revenue Collection platform, and a cross-border e-commerce VAT monitoring and collection system.
Although Parliament approved the agreements, the Minority opposed them, arguing that critical information, including the contracts and their fiscal implications, had not been disclosed to Members of Parliament.
Speaking to journalists, Oppong Nkrumah said the RTI requests are intended to enable the Minority to scrutinise the agreements and assess their financial impact on the state.
