Shama-Nyankrom Road Crisis: Agitated Youth, Drivers Issue Two-Week Ultimatum to Authorities

Agitated youth, taxi drivers and tricycle operators at Shama-Nyankrom in the Western Region have given authorities a two-week ultimatum to begin serious reconstruction works on the deteriorating Shama-Nyankrom road.

The protest, which started at about 5:30 a.m., disrupted traffic and temporarily affected access for heavy-duty trucks serving the Twyford-KEDA and Marco Polo tiles and sanitary ware manufacturing plants.

The demonstrators say the poor condition of the road has affected transportation, businesses and daily activities in the area, warning that they will return to block the road if their concerns are not addressed.
