Tema Newtown Fish Site Demolished as FDA, EPA Remove Unsanitary Dried Fish

Officials from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have jointly removed dried fish preserved at a fish mongering site in Tema Newtown to prevent the products from entering the market.
The action followed a demolition exercise by the Tema East Sub-Metro to clear the shoreline area due to concerns over poor sanitation conditions.
Authorities say the exercise was necessary because some fish were being dried close to refuse dumps and areas affected by open defecation, raising concerns about food safety and public health.
