France legend Zinedine Zidane has been appointed as the new head coach of the French national team following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Zidane replaces former captain Didier Deschamps, whose remarkable 14-year spell in charge of Les Bleus came to an end after the tournament.
Under Deschamps, France won the 2018 FIFA World Cup, finished runners-up at the 2022 World Cup, and established itself as one of the world's strongest football nations.
Zidane, who guided Real Madrid to three UEFA Champions League titles as head coach, says leading France is the role he has always wanted.
