Agitated youth, taxi drivers and bicycle riders at Shama Nyankrom have blocked the deteriorated Shama–Nyankrom Road, preventing heavy-duty trucks from accessing nearby manufacturing plants.

The protesters say years of heavy truck traffic have severely damaged the road, making it difficult for motorists and residents to use it safely.

They argue that repeated appeals to have the road repaired have yielded little response, prompting the demonstration to demand urgent government intervention.
