The National Security Secretariat in the Ashanti Region has raised concerns over the continued operations of illegal miners near the Obuasi Airport despite recent enforcement actions.

Authorities say the activities pose serious risks to aviation safety, contribute to environmental degradation and undermine efforts to protect public lands.

The National Security Secretariat says further measures are needed to address the illegal mining activities and safeguard the area around the airport.
