Around 60 Palestinian detainees arrive in Gaza from Israeli jails in largest release since October

Around 60 Palestinian detainees have arrived at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis after being released from Israeli jails in the largest such release since October. Families and crowds gathered at the facility to welcome the detainees and reunite with relatives after their release. Some of those freed are Palestinians who worked in the occupied Palestinian territories before October 7. The detainees return to Gaza as the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, with many immediately facing the need for food, water and shelter. Palestinian sources say more than 9,000 Palestinians remain detained in Israeli jails, including medical workers, children and women. The figures include around 350 children and 73 women, according to Palestinian sources. Families say every detainee has a story and loved ones waiting for the chance to reunite with them.
