Remembering Angel Island: Honoring immigration through art.
Angel island, right off the coast of San Francisco, is often called the Ellis island of the west. For more than 30 years, from 1910 to 1940, it was an immigration processing and detention center- where thousands of immigrants, mostly from Asian countries, waited for months or even years, for a chance to enter America. Today artist and creator Evri Kwong returns to Angel Island to remember and honor his grandparents and musician Charlton Lee from the Del Sol string quartet remembers what it felt like to honor his ancestors while playing at Angel Island.
