Guangdong moves over 800,000 to safety as Typhoon Noul approaches

Typhoon Noul made landfall in Huidong County in the early hours of Sunday, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 meters per second. It is the strongest typhoon to make landfall in China so far this year. More than 800,000 people were evacuated across Guangdong before the storm struck.

As Noul tracks farther inland, authorities warn that swollen rivers could trigger the worst flooding some areas have seen in a decade over the coming days.
