Southern Lebanon residents return to ruins as Israeli forces remain nearby

Residents of Zawtar al-Gharbiya have returned to find their town in ruins, with homes reduced to rubble following Israel's occupation as part of a US-brokered “pilot zone” deal. The Lebanese army has spent days clearing debris and removing unexploded munitions, though Israeli drones continue to fly overhead and troops remain stationed nearby. Further withdrawals are conditioned on Lebanon preventing Hezbollah's return and dismantling its remaining military assets.
