World's largest offshore converter station installed off Guangdong coast#coolchina
The world's largest and most powerful offshore converter station, known as the "Heart of Offshore Wind," was installed on July 23 in the South China Sea, nearly 100 kilometers off the coast of Yangjiang in Guangdong Province.
The "Heart of Offshore Wind" is the world's first ±500-kilovolt, 2,000-megawatt flexible direct current (DC) offshore converter station.
The project has now entered the final stage of subsea cable connection and offshore-onshore joint testing. Once operational, it is expected to deliver 6 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
