The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has raised concerns over the persistent burden of food poisoning, diarrhoeal diseases and diet-related illnesses in Ghana, warning that poor food safety practices continue to threaten public health.
GMA President Prof. Ernest Yorke says excessive pesticide use, harmful chemical preservatives, food adulteration and lapses in food handling across the production, processing and storage chain are contributing to preventable illnesses and chronic health conditions.
The Association is calling for stronger measures to improve food safety standards and protect consumers across the country.
