Earthy and authentic: 'Black Myth: Wukong' takes over concert halls

For music creators of "Black Myth: Wukong," reaching global audiences does not mean changing the music to please everyone. It means offering a sincere, contemporary expression of an Eastern myth.

Blending symphonic music with folk storytelling and the xiqu (traditional Chinese opera), the concert has drawn more than 90,000 people across China and is now heading to cities worldwide.

The show features over 20 pieces, including classics such as "Where Lies the Path Ahead?" and "Celestial Symphony," as well as a theme from the upcoming sequel, "Black Myth: Zhong Kui," which is currently in production.

CGTN's Li Yiqing speaks with audio director Li Jiaqi and Shaanbei Shuoshu inheritor Xiong Zhuying about adapting the game's soundtrack for the stage, balancing traditional sounds with modern arrangements, and preserving the music's earthy, authentic character.
