Tesa Dam Demolition: Flood Taskforce Clears Illegal Structures in East Legon

The Flood Mitigation Taskforce has demolished structures built along the banks of the Tesa Dam, adjacent to Boundary Road in East Legon, as part of efforts to restore the natural waterway and reduce flood risks.

The taskforce says encroachment has narrowed the dam's water channel, while illegal retaining walls and other unauthorised structures have affected the natural flow of water.

Indiscriminate dumping of plastic waste and activities by squatters around the dam have also contributed to heavy siltation of the reservoir and drainage channels, increasing the area's vulnerability to flooding.

Before the demolition exercise began, the Commanding Officer of the 48 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Osei Amponsah, addressed residents affected by the operation.
