Vice President Pushes Stronger Local Governance at Sister Cities Conference

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang says government is working to equip Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the resources needed to drive local development.
Speaking at the Sister Cities International 70th Anniversary Homecoming Conference in Washington D.C., USA, she said the government's commitment is reflected in the GH¢4.4 billion allocated to the District Assemblies Common Fund in the 2025 Budget.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang stressed that strengthening local governance remains central to the government's Reset Agenda, as assemblies play a critical role in delivering development at the community level.
