FDA Shuts Down 44 Food Facilities Over Safety Violations in Greater Accra

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has warned food manufacturers to obtain the required licences and comply with approved safety and hygiene standards or face sanctions.
The warning follows the shutdown of 44 food manufacturing facilities in the Greater Accra Region, including sachet water producers and cold stores, for violating safety regulations and permit requirements.
Speaking during a nationwide enforcement exercise, Head of Communications at the FDA, Rhoda Appiah, urged consumers to purchase only FDA-approved food products to protect their health and ensure food safety.
The exercise forms part of efforts by the Authority to improve compliance among food producers and safeguard consumers across the country.
