'No official Taiwan visits': Czech speaker pushes reset with China

A clear message from the Czech-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference held in Beijing on July 23.

During his China visit, Czech Chamber of Deputies Speaker Tomio Okamura reaffirmed the government's commitment to the one-China policy, saying there would be no official visits to China's Taiwan region under the administration.

He also revealed that Prague–Shanghai direct flights could return as early as next year, saying many Czechs hope for visa-free travel to China, and proposed bringing the Terracotta Warriors exhibition to the Czech Republic.

The remarks come as Beijing and Prague mark 10 years of their strategic partnership and seek to expand tourism, business and cultural exchanges.
