ISRAEL Far-Right Israelis Enter Al-Aqsa compound as tensions rise in Occupied East Jerusalem

More than 4,000 far-right Israelis entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem under Israeli police protection during a Jewish holiday, according to Palestinian officials.

Participants, including Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and other members of the Knesset, performed prayers inside the compound. Palestinian worshippers were prevented from entering parts of the site, while officials described the visit as a dangerous escalation and accused Israel of undermining the long-standing status quo governing the holy site.

Palestinians are increasingly concerned about growing numbers of Israeli visitors, public prayers, flag displays and other changes they fear could alter arrangements at one of Islam's holiest sites.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third-holiest site in Islam. Jews know the area as the Temple Mount, one of Judaism's holiest sites, while the adjacent Western Wall is a major place of Jewish worship.
