Ghanaians lost nearly GH¢300,000 to online restaurant impersonation scams between January and June 2026, according to the Cyber Security Authority (CSA).

The Authority says cybercriminals are increasingly hijacking Google Business listings to impersonate legitimate restaurants and trick unsuspecting customers into paying for food that is never delivered.

The latest CSA alert recorded 112 reported cases in the first half of 2026, up from 61 cases during the same period in 2025, highlighting a sharp rise in this form of cyber fraud.
