Former Vice President and the New Patriotic Party's 2028 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has led a high-level party delegation to Kumasi for a closed-door meeting with the Ashanti Regional NPP leadership following the sentencing of the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
The NPP says it has begun the process of appealing the 20-year prison sentence handed to Chairman Wontumi, describing him as a political prisoner.
