A charged atmosphere unfolded in Parliament after the presentation of the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review, as the Minority and Majority sides traded chants.

The Minority Caucus chanted “Free Wontumi Now” in support of the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, following his conviction and 20-year prison sentence in a mining-related case.

The Majority side responded with chants of “Ato is Forson” in support of Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson after his budget presentation.

The exchange highlighted the deep political divisions surrounding recent legal and economic developments in Ghana.
