11 Fake National Security Operatives Arrested for Extorting Monies From Cannabis Farmers

The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested 11 people posing as National Security operatives for allegedly extorting money from cannabis farmers at Aboa, a farming community in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.
According to police sources, the suspects allegedly dressed in National Security uniforms and moved from one community to another, demanding money from farmers under the pretext of protecting them from police operations and raids.
The group is said to have operated in communities including Osoya, Aboa, Osuboi No.1 and Opesika, using motorbikes to patrol the areas.
The suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led operation after police received information that they had returned to Aboa to collect money from farmers. They were reportedly apprehended after allegedly receiving GH¢3,000 from farmers.
Police also confiscated a silver Toyota Voxy vehicle, a pump-action gun and a pistol believed to have been used by the suspected fake operatives.
