NPP Urges Finance Minister to Publish Debt Sustainability Plan

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the government risks missing the debt-to-GDP target projected by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 2028 due to what it describes as increased borrowing since Ghana exited the IMF programme.
At a news conference, the party's Economy Committee said Ghana's cedi-denominated debt had increased by about GH¢40 billion, while the government was also seeking to borrow approximately US$1 billion.
The committee's co-chair, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, called on the Finance Minister to publish a comprehensive debt sustainability plan when presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review.
